MANIFESTO by Belén Berlín.

School doesn't make you an artist.

You can have a cero audience and still be an artist.

Acknowledge comes from within when the purpose is to share.

You don’t need to know what you’re doing in order to enjoy it.

Art comes from finding beauty in the process instead of looking for a result.

An artist is a lighthouse in the dark that flags out a particular feeling or perspective in the world, creating a lighthouse network with other artists and audiences that will come naturally from the art itself.

Art must not be necessarily beautiful. [The] Artist must not be necessarily beautiful.

Life [must]might imitate art.

The art process is a journey. Enjoy the ride.

Do not seek to show the others the Eye of the hurricane. BE the Eye of the Hurricane.

Ego and self-esteem are not the same. Ego is the dark side, but you can get along with your demons. Self-esteem though comes from connection with others.

Run away from those who won’t see the beauty in you and want to turn you into their own piece of art. You are your own piece of art, baby. Your beauty speaks louder than bombs. Your beauty will let them blind.

Validation from a supreme court of [human] subjectivity is not valid anymore.

Subjectivity is the obstacle but also the vehicle.

Subjectivity transmutes over the decades and centuries. Aesthetics will tell us what's beautiful and what’s ugly, which are human concepts. And we are all humans, we, US, are telling this to ourselves. The dialogue goes therefore in one direction and is destructive. So the beautiful seeks destruction. This is a ticking bomb and we will dance over the remains.

We don’t care about “their” beautiful. We care about connecting our little islands selves through the lighthouses of art.

This Manifesto was originally written for the Bloody Poets cabaret show that took part on July 2017 at KIN2000 warehouse (London)
