SAUDADE PERFORMERS: DEBRA WATSON

Debra Watson is a performance poet based in the UK. Her practice includes an interest in performing intimate 1-2-1 multi-sensory readings and experimental performances using poetry as text. She has performed intimate, multi-sensory and multi-media work in the UK, Europe and South Africa, combining her performance practices and interest in participative art practices with poetry. Her academic essay on performance and audience responses to 1-2-1 and intimate readings was published in ‘Spoken Word in the UK’ in April 2021 as part of an anthology of essays mapping out the current UK spoken word practices. She is currently exploring the notion of eco-grief in relation to the effects of climate change. Performing at Saudade @underbellyhoxton on the 3rd of September.
